Bogna Łakomska

Jestem historyczką sztuki i absolwentką Uniwersytetu Mikołaja Kopernika w Toruniu. W 2007 roku obroniłam doktorat z nauk o sztuce, a w 2016 uzyskałam stopień doktora habilitowanego w tej samej dziedzinie. Z Akademią Sztuk Pięknych w Gdańsku jestem związana od 2011 roku – najpierw jako adiunkt, a od 2019 roku jako profesor. Prowadzę zajęcia z historii sztuki i kultury, analizy dzieła sztuki, historii grafiki oraz seminaria teoretycznej pracy magisterskiej.

Moje zainteresowania naukowe od ponad dwóch dekad koncentrują się na sztuce Azji. W latach 2012-2019 pracowałam w Państwowym Muzeum Etnograficznym w Warszawie, gdzie opiekowałam się zbiorami azjatyckimi. Nadal współpracuję z Polskim Instytutem Studiów nad Sztuką Świata, z którym realizuję projekty badawcze i wydawnicze. Jestem autorką dwóch książek: Miłośnicy „chińskości” w dawnej Polsce. Od XVII do początków XIX wieku (2008) oraz Kolekcjonerstwo w Chinach do XII w. n.e. (2015). Redaguję także serie wydawnicze Artistic Traditions of Non-European Cultures (2010, 2012) oraz Art of the Orient (od 2015 roku).

Miałam również możliwość zdobywać doświadczenie za granicą – jako stypendystka National Taiwan Normal University(2004/2005), programu Science & Technology Fellowship to China (2009-2011) oraz Korean Cultural Partnership Initiative (2014). Moje obecne badania skupiają się na roli wizerunków zwierząt w sztuce chińskiej.

I am an art historian and a graduate of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. I earned my PhD in art history in 2007 and completed my postdoctoral degree (habilitation) in the same field in 2016. Since 2011, I have been working at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk – first as an assistant professor, and since 2019 as an associate professor. I teach courses in the history of art and culture, the analysis of artworks, the history of graphic arts, and lead seminar classes.

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to deepen my research thanks to several international fellowships, including at National Taiwan Normal University (2004/2005), through the Science & Technology Fellowship Program to China (2009-2011), and as part of the Korean Cultural Partnership Initiative (2014).

For more than two decades, I have focused my scholarly work on Asian art. From 2012 to 2019, I worked at the State Ethnographic Museum in Warsaw, where I was responsible for the Asian collections. I also collaborate with the Polish Institute of World Art Studies. I’m the author of two books: Amateurs of “Chinese” Culture in Old Poland: From the 17th to the Early 19th Century (2008) and Collecting in China until the 12th Century CE (2015). In addition, I have edited the series Artistic Traditions of Non-European Cultures (2010, 2012) and Art of the Orient (since 2015). My current research explores the role of animal imagery in Chinese art.
